California is about to outrank the recessionary Germany to become Fourth Largest Economy in the World, trailing the US as a whole, China and Japan, according to Bloomberg. Its climb is not an anomaly, having overtaken Brazil and France in 2015 and leaped over the UK in 2017, despite having a smaller population than all these countries. Its diverse and resilient economy is known for the tech and entertainment industries. And the Golden State's future shines brightly, with the market capitalization of the state's renewable energy industry, which is the fastest-growing business in California and Germany, having increased 731% in the past three years, or 1.74 times more than their German counterparts, according to Bloomberg.
Governor Gavin Newsom in response said, "Despite the nay sayers -- CA’s best days are ahead of us." California Dreaming, indeed!
